WHO WE ARE

AlmaMater.KRD was founded by Nergiz Abi and Trisha Neumann in 2018 with a mission to provide Kurdistani students access to quality education so as to be better equipped to help themselves, their families and help contribute to a sustainable Kurdistan.

Nergiz holds two bachelor's degrees from Simon Fraser University, one in psychology and one in criminology, and a masters degree in international studies from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. She went on to work for Correctional Services Canada, the UN Women, the Kurdistan Regional Government-Iraq (KRG) Department of Foreign Relations and the KRG Representation in Austria. Trisha Neumann studied psychology and anthropology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She went on to work in business development at leading travel management companies.
